This certificate program is designed to provide next-level leadership skills in a small group environment. Registration is limited to 10 participants in order to maximize interaction and discuss personal and theoretical applications of the content. Only SDEA members may participate.
This course encourages a thorough analysis of skillsets needed to influence others, build trust, encourage innovation, demonstrate integrity, and act decisively – all necessary qualities to be an effective leader, develop professionally, and grow your business.

Effective Communication
Communication skills are possibly the most important facets of a successful leader. In order to influence direct-reports, peers, and the C-suite, managers need to understand the subtler aspects of communication, including body language, tone, and word choice. In this program we will discuss these features of effective communication and learn practical ways to ensure the message you are conveying is done in a way to achieve desired goals.

Conflict Management
No one likes conflict, right? OK, it seems like some people do because they consistently create it. As an organizational leader, managing conflict is an essential skill. In this session we will discuss types of conflict, reasons for conflict, and most importantly what leaders can do to ensure that company disputes don't get out of hand.

Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence has been found to be one of the most important skills for a leader, and fortunately it is something that can be developed. In this course we will review the five key components of Emotional Intelligence, analyze those key components, and explore tactical ways that you can improve your Emotional Intelligence. Developing and expressing Emotional Intelligence leads to better interpersonal relationships, both in the office and in your personal life.

Promoting Psychological Safety
The term Psychological Safety is a new buzz-word in the HR community, but what does it mean and why does it matter? Research, and “common sense” shows that in order for people to be at their best they need to feel comfortable expressing their ideas and appreciated for their contribution. In this interactive session we will discuss what contributes to – and what detracts from – a psychologically safe work environment, and how leaders can create an optimal environment to encourage the best from each individual.

Ethical Leadership
The news is full of corporate scandals that damage the reputation of organizations, or in some cases completely obliterate them. Wells Fargo, Volkswagen, and Lehman Brothers are just a few of the companies who lost the faith of their customers and the market, resulting in costly settlements and crow-eating Public Relations campaigns. The lack of ethical decision-making is responsible for these crises and many more.  In this class we will discuss personal ethics, professional ethics, and how they overlap. We will also share pointers on how to have tough conversations about ethics with senior leadership and business partners. This class will be extremely interactive, and of course, confidential.
